Capital City Farmers’ Market – Saturday, July 27 – 9am-noon

Exciting new this week! Yes, breakfast burritos from The Dakota Cuban, but…also we are partnering with Dakota Rural Action (DRA) for a fun farmers market promotion this summer. Stop at the Market Manager booth or any vendor booth to pick up a SoDak Grown punch card. With each item you purchase, vendors will “punch” your card. Once you have 12 “punches”, turn your card into the Market Manager (and pick up another card) to be entered in monthly prizes from market vendors and a grand prize from DRA for a $100 gift card!

A co-worker asked me today, “What vegetables will you have at market this weekend? I am working on my grocery list.” I ran through a quick list of what I thought we would have on Saturday. She was hoping for asparagus to grill, but the asparagus season ends near the beginning of July. I mentioned that she could grill green beans or zucchini and her face lit up. This. This right here is so very important as we talk about eating in season and supporting local farmers. Planning a menu around vegetables that have been harvested at peak ripeness, so you maximize the local bounty and support local farmers. Win. Win.

As a market, we accept credit cards and EBT. Shop vendors who accept cc/EBT and pay once before you leave! Stop at the Market Manager booth to start the process and have fun shopping.
