Capital City Farmers’ Market – Saturday, September 8 – 9am-noon

So, I must tell you what’s on my mind tonight. We name all of our plots at the garden. Some are not creative…Plot 1, 2, etc. Some literally define the plot…Barn Plot. And, some are named after experiences…Snake Butte. About that last one. Snake Butte came to be after we saw a couple large bull snakes in that plot. We named them Big Ben, Small Steve, and Huge Hefner. After not seeing the boys for a couple years, we found a 6 foot shed in the potatoes this season. And tonight, Matt was “snaked” in the okra. He only saw the end of it, but said it was a “decent” sized bull snake. We have to harvest tomatoes, potatoes, okra, and peppers in Snake Butte on Friday. I am not excited.

If I’m not startled to death, we’ll be at market Saturday morning where it’s definitely starting to look like Fall. Bab’s Bites ‘n Bones will have leaf-shaped dog biscuits, B&G Produce will have some delicious fall carrots and heirloom flat beans, Layton’s Produce will have a bunch of pears, and BLC Ranch will have their handmade warm wool wares.

This is the last weekend to take advantage of beef bundle savings at Nancy’s Nest. Just a couple bundles remain! See the details below.

Lastly, be sure to watch your home garden pumpkins! We are having a largest pumpkin contest on Saturday, October 27.
