Capital City Farmers’ Market – Saturday, July 21 – 9am-noon

We’ve been weeding and planting at the garden, on repeat. Planting will slow down at the end of the month, but weeding will continue. Good news…the beds of carrots look great, although it will be at least a month before they are ready for harvest. The timing will be perfect for the start of Fall roast season. Along with potatoes, onions, celery, and a roast from one of our awesome beef vendors and you’ll be set!

But, for now, let’s embrace the summer vegetables like zucchini. Zucchini blossoms are amazing battered and fried, but they are also delicious sautéed with other vegetables or simply added to a salad. Zucchini itself is lovely because it will take on whatever flavors you add to it…curry, sure…Middle Eastern, yes…Asian, heck yes! Simply slice and dip into hummus, add to a stir fry, season and grill, make into ribbons and add to a salad. This vegetable is super versatile and in season now.

Definitely bring the kids Saturday morning because Amanda is back face painting! Be sure to check out Bab’s Bites ‘n Bones two new scone flavors, The Mellow Coconut’s apricot cobbler using apricots from their own tree, and also the much anticipated Blue Cheese Walnut Pesto at B&G Produce!

As a market, we accept credit cards and EBT. Shop vendors who accept cc/EBT and pay once before you leave! Stop at the Market Manager booth to start the process and have fun shopping.
